A Play Date In The Park

Humans are creatures of habit. This means we tend to stick to our regular scheduled routine. With so much free time on our hands we both decided that there has to be more to do then just tidy up the house. We wanted to do something that could be fun for us and the baby so we turned to the power of the internet to give us salvation.

For some time now Anne has wanted to do something to get involved in the 'mothers' community by finding good, substantial friends that are also mothers of young children that could play with Ethen. We found a mommy and me meet up website designed for Arizona mothers to go and meet one another at events mothers put together. It seemed like the perfect opportunity and we just couldn't refuse, even though I am not a mom I went along as well to meet some new people and get out of the house for a little bit.

For this one we went to a free water park, designed for kids of all ages. It was awkward in the beginning, strolling by slowly trying to look to see if we recognized any of the other mothers on their profile picture, but we did it. Taking to the water it seemed like Ethen enjoyed it the most. He had a great time going underneath the manmade waterfall and more mini geysers like he had played in recently, but the other kids did not seem so keen.

We quickly went back to the picnic benches and talked amongst each other getting to know each individual in the group. The potluck style food was a good idea, allowing each individual from the group to bring something they loved and allowed us to have a delicious smorgasbord of food. It was nice to meet all the mommies and new mommies to be and would not have been possible if we didn't take a risk. It is nice to have a routine, but sometimes a little chaos is needed to create excitement and new possibilities.
